"If I Could Reach Higher"
Education is a privilege rather than a right for most children in India. Schools exist for the wealthy, but a majority of Indian children who live in poverty do not have the opportunity to get an education. Even after 60 years of independence, half of the country’s children do not have a proper education, despite primary education as a key thrust area and India having one of the largest networks of schools in the world.
Kalyanam, a non profit organization working amongst the low income groups and marginalized communities on the outskirts of Delhi, tries to empower the underprivileged children of the society by providing non formal education and later mainstreaming them into the formal education system.
The time has now come to take collective as well as individual responsibility to remedy the present situation in India and to educate and empower the underprivileged children through education and to bring about progressive social change.
